About

Osun State is in the South-West geopolitical zone of Nigeria, bordered by Ekiti and Ondo States to the east, Kwara to the north, Ogun to the south and Oyo to the west. Named after the River Osun, it was created in 1991 from the south-eastern part of Oyo State and has Osogbo as its capital. Osun's economy is anchored in agriculture, trade, solid minerals and a rich cultural-tourism heritage. Opportunities span cocoa, oil palm, cassava, gold and other solid minerals, agro-processing and tourism, including the UNESCO-listed Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove. Public finance and development priorities focus on agriculture, mineral development, infrastructure and strengthening internally generated revenue.
