About

Kebbi State is in the North-West geopolitical zone of Nigeria, bordered by Sokoto and Zamfara States to the north and east and Niger State to the south, with its western boundary forming part of the international borders with the Benin and Niger Republics. Formed from part of Sokoto State on 27 August 1991, it has Birnin Kebbi as its capital and is known as the “Land of Equity”. Kebbi's economy is dominated by agriculture, with the state a leading producer of rice and a hub for fisheries along the Rima and Niger river systems. Opportunities span rice and other cereals, fisheries, livestock, agro-processing and cross-border trade. Public finance and development priorities focus on agricultural value chains — notably rice production — infrastructure, human capital and growing internally generated revenue.
