About
Kaduna State is in the North-West geopolitical zone of Nigeria, with Kaduna city as its capital. Created in 1967 as North-Central State (then including present-day Katsina), it attained its current borders in 1987. It is nicknamed the “Centre of Learning” for its many prominent institutions, including Ahmadu Bello University, and it hosts sites of ancient civilisations, such as the Nok culture. Kaduna has one of Nigeria's most diversified sub-national economies, spanning agriculture, manufacturing, services and solid minerals. Opportunities include cereals, ginger, cotton, livestock, agro-processing, textiles, automobile assembly and mining. The state has pursued sustained reforms to improve its business environment, and public finance priorities focus on infrastructure, human capital, investment attraction and strengthening internally generated revenue.
