Anambra State lies in the South-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria, bordered by Delta State to the west, Imo State to the south, Enugu State to the east, and Kogi State to the north. Created on 27 August 1991 from the old Anambra State, it takes its name from the Anambra (Ọ̀mambala) River. Awka is the state capital, while Onitsha and Nnewi are its foremost commercial and industrial centres. Anambra has one of the most entrepreneurial economies in Nigeria, driven by trade, manufacturing and a strong indigenous private sector. Nnewi is a noted automotive parts and light manufacturing hub, and Onitsha hosts one of West Africa's largest markets. Opportunities span manufacturing, commerce, agriculture (rice, cassava and oil palm), oil and gas, and ICT. Public finance priorities focus on expanding internally generated revenue, industrialisation, infrastructure and a competitive investment climate.
